State of Address

Here I am once again, to tell how it's all goin...

To say my time here has been a real eye-opener is an understatement. I can't believe this is the place I was born & raised in. It is only upon returning from that beloved frigid mass of land they call Canada that I've noticed a few pecularities in the attitude of some people over here and in the electrical industry in particular.

- The locals can't do anything right. They took so long to process my paperwork, and in the end it contains mistakes so it has to be done all over again. My professional life is again on hold.

- Some customers walking in and asking for bulbs. Like could you be more specific please? Most manufacturers have a 2000 page catalog on bulbs.

- Some customers try to bargain by claiming that your product is fake and hence we should give it to them cheaper. The only thing I've got to say to you guys is: shut the fuck up when you don't know what you're talking about.

- A few customers claim that our competitors are giving them a product at a lower cost than us (often giving us numbers that are significantly lower than cost price). Just one question: If our rivals are giving you such a good price, why not just buy from them? Why are you trying to make us into giving you the product at that price?

- The procrastinating supplier: The supplier claims that the goods will be delivered in a week. One week later and no goods. Then they inform us that it will be delivered in a couple of days. Still no goods. Finally they inform us that it is a national holiday and that shipment will be delayed for three more days. Like seriously, don't you know when you have your holidays? Just be honest with your delivery times and cut out the excuses. It's an order valued at 30,000 USD for crying out loud. I think you could afford to be a little more proactive for that kind of money.

Oh well, atleast I can't complain about being bored at work.

Dusty Days

A cloudy day for the first time in 2 months. The dust fills the air, preventing the searing sunlight from illuminating this dry and dusty land. As I scope the surroundings from my window, the wind blowing in my face, I wonder what awaits me next.

A thali for lunch. Wet gravies mopped up with insanely oily yet utterly delicious puris. Back in the comfort of my own home, I did what the dark, dusty day warranted: sleep.

I wake up. The few minutes after I wake up are always the same: a state of subconscious between reality & the bubble I wished I lived in. A crisp, cold shower and life resumes its normalcy.

It's Eid. I make a visit. I take in the plush surroundings of my host. Rich, lush carpets, dazzling artwork and a fantastic wall mounted plasma tv. All this while letting the milky kheer tingle my taste buds and yet again being interrogated about my educational credentials by uncles .

The day plunges into darkness. Gwen Stefani's Cool keeps playing in my head. Donald Trump is yet again ripping some incompetent wannabes on TV. I fall back into my state of semiconscious...

Lalalala

Finally finished designing my company's website...phew.

I also got my hands on real alcohol (160 Canadian Dollars for a bottle?!?!). Good thing gas is still cheap over here...

I think I'm getting overly obssessed with food. I've even marked down the seminar/dinner at a 5-star hotel. A five-star buffet, I'l try to stop drooling now.
